Coffee may prevent heart attacks, says new study – Can’t get through the day without a cup of coffee? You’d be pleased to know that it may actually be good for you.

According to a new Korean study, drinking moderate amounts of coffee can help you avoid clogged arteries, and reduce the risk of heart disease.

The researchers studied more than 25,000 men and women who underwent routine health checks at their workplace, and discovered that those who drank between three to five cups of coffee a day – were less likely to have calcium deposits in their coronary arteries (an early sign of heart disease).

So is the popular beverage good or bad for you? The jury is still out on that one.

Previous studies have linked coffee consumption to heart risk factors, such as raised cholesterol or blood pressure, and even the Korean researchers, who published their findings in the latest Heart journal, stressed that more research needs to be done in order to confirm the potential health benefits of coffee.
