Stop Watching Action-Packed TV to Snack Less

New research suggests we should stop watching action-packed TV to snack less. If you’re addicted to watching those fast-paced thrillers, you might be consuming more calories than you need.

Cornell University researchers asked 100 undergraduate students to watch three 20-minute sessions of a sci-fi thriller, The Island, the same movie minus the sound, and the TV interview program, Charlie Rose. They provided the students with various snacks like cookies, M & M’s, carrots, and grapes.

Students ate about 7 ounces of snacks amounting to 354 calories during the movie, while they consumed only half the calories when watching the interview program. They also consumed 100 calories more when watching the movie without the sound.

According to researchers, fast-paced TV distracts viewers more and leads to mindless eating. More….
