Protein is important for building and maintaining muscle mass. Protein also keeps us feeling full for a longer time, thereby reducing the need to grab those unhealthy snacks between meals. Staying full also helps improve our focus and attention.
Kimball says adding more protein to your diet is easy – just include it in your breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you’re a vegetarian, you can get protein from nut butters, cheese, yogurt, and legumes and lentils to your meals. Nutritional yeast, protein bars, protein-rich cereals, and protein powder are also quick and easy options.
Insufficient sleep can cause various health problems, such as weight gain, stress, and high blood pressure. Sleep deprivation impairs the body’s ability to burn fat, and makes it difficult to lose weight. Establishing a sleep routine is important to getting adequate sleep; sleep and wake up at the same time every day, and turn off all electronic devices, such as TV, computer, and cell phones, as the blue light emitted by these devices interfere with hormones that regulate sleep.
